Oh, that was just my way of saying again that, even if I 
don't like to use "relativism" to denote this area of discourse 
I think we have (largely) in common (and there are other 
philosophers/writers who fall into this category, like Rorty), 
we shouldn't divide ourselves on the mere name.  Not that 
we won't have differences, mind 
you--all philosophers do--but ya' know.

Philosophical exploration can seem a very personal, 
individual, even isolating affair, as you come to hold more 
and more refined opinions about X and Y, but I don't think 
that means we need to turn into, I don't know, say, Bo, 
with very grandiose language about how supposedly 
different and alone he is.

That's probably why I like the "scholarship mentality" better 
than the "lone trecker" imagery that, for instance, Pirsig 
uses.  I like seeing myself in a web with others, and like 
any real community that has ever existed, not everybody's 
going to agree, even though there's a very real 
background of agreement that constitutes the community.
