So where does this third thing--this force--come from? 

Is it always there or does it appear from nothing when 
+ & - particles get near each other?  Or is it part of the 
+ & - particles, in which case we can dispense with it altogether? 
Why not just say it is the + & - particles that cause (=prefer) 

the attraction?
