Except Bo "creates" paintings...
[Arlo]
I thought Quality created these paintings.
[Platt]
You asked for difference in the meaning of "creates. There is none. If every
case "creates" means "bring into existence." Nice try, though.
[Arlo]
Theism. Right, I get that. You said this last time. Thanks.
Did Quality create radical Islam? Did Quality create communism? Did Quality
create the pizza I had for dinner tonight? Did Quality create the lawnmower I
used earlier? You have now successfully not only eliminated "freedom" from the
MOQ, you have watered the word "create" down to it being a meaningless term, as
I said, other than as "god".
When Bo "created" his paintings, this was a volitional act. It was willful.
Deliberate. Intended. He was free to do it, or not do it. It was HIM responding
TO Quality. Bo's paintings were not "created by Quality", they were created by
Bo in response Quality. Bo did the creating.

I knew you'd evade this one as well. I figured you'd ignore it outright, but
since you didn't, I hope you can see that the answer is "yes", there WAS a
"chance" that the Mona Lisa may not have been painted. If there was never this
"chance" for it NOT to happen, then there is NO freedom in the cosmos And if
there WAS a "chance" it may not have happened, then there is also the "chance"
WE might not have happened. And that, Platt, puts us here by "chance".
[Platt]
Yes, we all know that's your faith -- "Oops, life's a crap shoot"
[Arlo]
And back to the insults and distortions rather than responding with any
substance. You missed an opportunity to inject a "evil academy" talking point
into that. Kudos for the desperate use of "faith".
My philosophy, the MOQ, is most certainly "oops" (the unexpected DQ) followed
by the "AHA!" (or "Bleeech!" sometimes) that is the free value response to
Quality inherent in experience. The MOQ describes how this AHA! becomes
habituated and seen as "patterns", while the "bleechs!" simply disappear.
Sadly, you continue to deny freedom across the board. If there was never a
"chance" man would not have appeared, then there is no freedom, not DQ present
at any pre-"man" level. Your insistence on denying chance leaves you with a
freedomless metaphysics, and not the MOQ.
Pirsig, correctly, posits DQ as the moment of experience from quarks to
patterns of intellect. And this freedom gives the MOQ its beauty, for there is
always a "chance" something might not have happened. And that includes "us".
