Squonk,
Why don't you present for direct discussion what you find applicable to the
MoQ from Desmond Morris 'The Naked Ape: A Zoologist's Study of the Human
Animal'.

Squonk to Andre:
The entire moq is RMP's ego exerting itself.
Andre:
k, this conclusion is, I think, a bit unfair.
Hi Squo

Hi Andre,
This is interesting.
I began with an argument, and the argument seemed to raise a few
conclusions.
The argument suggests that the moq is open to the same problems as other
senses, that is to say, the postulated 'reality' is not directly
experienced, in this case, DQ/Q.
I don't think this is a matter of fairness: If there is an issue of fairness
involved then i think it may be that RMP should not be castigated for being
human.
The issues RMP concerned himself with certainly 'hit a nerve' if we go by
the
sales of ZMM and LILA. It says something about the idea that we are
all individuals, each with our own problems and our own ways of
d has
once again been proved by the publication of the two said books
seeking answers. This (SOM) notion has been belied very often a
n.
Remember Sting's 'Message in a Bottle'?
This whole notion of individuality, I, the Self, etc is an illusion as
d when you realise that
it is an illusion, in a seeming contradictory
soon as you start thinking about it. The inability or refusal to think
about it keeps on feeding the SOM 'Giant', a
nway, the 'Giant'
disappears.

If positive results flow from base drives then i think this is a good thing.
But there are dangers. For example, it could be argued that in order for
positive results to flow then
base drives should be applied ruthlessly, perhaps even killing humans.
This behaviour is itself supportive of the notion that the human ego can not
be dispensed with, but must be accommodated in some sense.
Your whole point regarding the giant confirms this, and i think it is a
fairy story because human beings have evolved in ways that make its
realisation a tremendous problem; one would have to stop being fundamentally
human in order to kill the giant.
Being a recluse is one way of achieving this.
A person asked of the Buddha: 'Are you God?' To which the Buddha replied:
'No'.
Are you some sort of super human character? To which the Buddha
ies and hot air constructions I wo
answered: 'No, I am merely awake'.
Squonk:
Awake as a human being, and human beings are animals. An awake animal with
no anxieties is free from danger, and life is a dangerous activity.
I really think Mr. Pirsig has put a program down on paper that has
potential to improve the world and wake people. It 'pops' so many

culdn't even know where to
begin.
Anyway, I am beginning to rant and rave and have little time.
Love is all.
