Marsha:
Why don't you present for direct discussion what you find applicable to the
MoQ from Desmond Morris 'The Naked Ape: A Zoologist's Study of the Human
Animal'.
Squonk:
A theme in Morris' first book is that all human behaviour can be traced back
to its value for biological advantage. Recall the section in 'Lila' where
RMP mentions the woman who told him that she wanted to have sex with him.
This is a good example imo.
Marsha:
That seems an example of why men should not be left alone with the idea of a
woman. imho
Squonk:
At this point i would recommend his books, 'The naked ape' and 'The human
zoo'.
I would note here that Morris presents one suggestion that demolishes one
RMP example of spov's:
RMP gives the example of, 'tipping ones hat to the ladies' as an example of
a spov.
Morris uses the same example to suggest that this is a form of grooming -
apes do it, and because we can't do it
anymore we substitute other patterns of behaviour, like tipping ones hat.
Chit a chat with ones neighbour may also be viewed as grooming.
I suspect that philosophy may be similarly viewed, which seems to undermine
the RMP suggestion that static levels are discreet.
It is a requirement of the moq that they be so, but i am seriously beginning
to question this.
Marsha:
I read 'The Naked Ape' probably thirty years ago. It certainly was a new
point-of-view at the time, but then everything biological seemed new and was
being exploited. The 50s and much of the 60s were very uptight. Are you
able to watch the the television series 'Mad Men'? The series demonstrates
very well the those repressed days of old.
Is there a general theme of conflict or a general theme of agreement between
Morris' and RMP's two point-of-view that you'd like to state and explore?
I'm not sure why your examples are important.
