If I may jump in Andre.  To use your analogy, a clock is used to
measure the passage of time.  The ticking of the clock represents
time.  Without time there would be no clock.  

Existence and the levels are used to measure Quality.  The way
things appear represents the presence of Quality.  Without
Quality there would be no us.

If Quality has presence and direction, why not call it a force?
