Thanks Arlo,

Now I understand the Wikipedia context you are working in, and it
explains your post.  That is despising intellectuals, that is people who
regard the intellect above all, not the capacity of intellect itself.

But aren't such people being intellectual about intellectuals being bad.
The term anti-intellectualism seems to be kind of an oxymoron.  I guess that was
why they were anti-intellectualists, go figure.

The Oxford dictionary defines intellectual (first definition) as : of or belonging to, the intellect
or understanding.  It also defines intellect (first definition) as: that faculty, or sum
of faculties, of the mind or soul by which one know and reasons (excluding
sensation, sometimes imagination; distinct from feeling and will).

I was referring to that use of intellectual in my post.  Probably not
the most friendly post for a group of intellectuals.

Cheers,
Willblake2

Arlo speaks of anti-intellectualism, I'm not quite sure what that is, sounds
like an intellectual endeavor to me...
