and *I* would re-write that to: The MoQ is about living the good life.

Well I think the problem is that one thing everybody hates is feeling
stupid. And that feeling really only happens around smart people. So if
you can avoid smart people, seat them away from everybody else in a small
group by themselves and castigate them, you can avoid that painful emotional
reaction of feeling like an idiot.
And obviously, these socially - oriented groups don't THINK about any of
this process, they just do it. It seems like a good idea at the time.
Ok one more thought it is interesting that perhaps Pirsig's greatest

For me, I've always felt even more than a writer or a metaphysician, Pirsig
should be celebrated as a great teacher. The scene in ZAMM with his return
to his old class room stomping grounds and confronting a student he didn't
remember, so much was caught in that fleeting glimpse of something very
special having occured in times gone by. And I know that feeling. There
are times when the teaching process is almost a holy thing. Not because
some great tradition is being handed down in a static way, but because
dynamic young intellect is evolving - right there in front of you! Amazing.
No telling where the whole thing will end, once you get that going.
