So my birthday present from Lu got here in the mail. Kucklick's
Intellectual History of Royce, in hardback courtesy of Amazon and a
library in Wisconsin that probably hadn't had a single person check
the book out since it was bought in 1972.
A semi blank page then, free for me to mark and spindle and mutilate
to my own individual heart's desire.
Been doing it all weekend, up and down the Napa Valley, hanging
outside various girl's dorms - my main hobby the last five years and
next seven, evidently.

Call it, "intellectualism". The placement of objectivity over all
other values. I have an old, old issue along these lines that I
haven't even touched upon in this forum. Yet. I got a grudge against
Zen.
Not in itself, but in the way it has been installed in American
society. Something about the self-less-ness combined with scientific
love of objectivity and christian guilt over man's inherently sinful
nature produced a public policy over the last 30 years which values
nature in itself, free of human influence, more than a good
relationship with nature wherein man is part of the ecosystem. unity
with, as opposed to separation from. It's gotten so bad that the
overwhelming interaction with natural patterns is through cable tv and
once a year killing sprees.

Yup. The hand that rocks the cradle rocks the world. Now sing along,
"Mamas don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys..."
to make a pre-socially defined intellectual experience

Suppress? Nay, engulf. Engulf this, this process of absorbing
opposing dialectic positions is that which evolves the transcendant
self. The objectification of social patterns is the only good reason
for intellect.
Oh, and microwave popcorn. Objectifying society and popping corn, but
that's it.
And actually, I'm just being facetious, obviously, because I like
popcorn made in my wok, over a woodfire (gives it that buttery-sweet
but smokey flavor)
Wokcorn.
