This was me trying to be sarcastic, because most people want 
"intelectual" to be whatever SOM characterizes as "mental activity". 
Thus when a crow outside my window tilts its head speculating on how 
to reach some food, this is bird is an "intellectual"!

What is failed to be realized, is that the term "intellectual" only has
context within a cultural paradigm. Intellect is relative.
Therefore the term only has context in reference to western
cultural definitions.
To your SOL, the crow and the Amazon tribespeople are equivalant,
they both are not intellectual. They are inferior and backward. Unevolved.
It renders Asian cultures as having skipped an evolutionary stage of development
(how the hell does THAT happen?) it holds western history and the theory of
evolution as FACT.
Already your version has holes, incompleteness and unaccountabilities, anchored in
the assumption of FACTS. Blind to other cultures and ways of thinking. It does not
address the problem of cultural bias, a main point in Pirsigs work, at all.

Scientifically, SOL explains NOTHING. What could DQ/SQ possibly mean
to a physicist that uses calculations to formulate conceptions of the 
behaviour of particles?

To the common folk, SOL sounds like more new age rubbish, touting a level
of thinking that transcends "intellect" a "true" reality of "Quality".
