Matt: (Side note to Squonk: "what SOM means by 'intellect'"
_is_ what the MoQ means by spov and ipov. So
technically, in this instance, Bo wasn't wrong in his
formulation when you reminded us of the latter fact.
?
squonk: Hi Matt,
For many years now, Bo has consistently conflated the terms, 'Mind' and 'Intellect'.
I remind Bo he is wrong, as follows:
?
squonk prev:?
A) Mind = spov and ipov (for the moq)
?
I'd also mention that your use of the equal sign was
ambiguous when alongside Bo's usage. In (A), the
"mind" _is_ spov and ipov, but in (B) and (C), you did
not mean "is," you meant "is _an_."
?
squonk: Yes.
If social patterns may be thought of as symbolic, then intellectual patterns may be thought of as hyper-symbolic.
SOM and the moq are both hyper-symbolic in nature:
?
squonk prev:
?
B) SOM is an ipov. (for the moq)
?
C) moq is an ipov (for the moq)
?
D) DQ = outside all sp's. (for the moq)
?
Bo wants to say, as ambiguously in your (B), that SOM _is_ ipov, but if I'm
not mistaken you, like most, agree with Pirsig that SOM _is an_ ipov, rather than the whole kit and caboodle.)
?
squonk: Bang on.
Bo's strategy of attrition involves incessant repetion?while ignoring arguments presented to him until people disengage through boredom, and/or frustration. Bo then claims disengagement to be a vindication of his position.
Ten years of that is a bit much for me.
All the best,
squonk?
