The problem is Ron that regards just every INTELLIGENT
deliberations to be "intellectual patterns", that stone age mankind
contemplating the making of flint artefacts were "intellectuals". This is
the intellect=intelligence fallacy
He will possibly point to Pirsig rejecting the SOL in Lila's Child (page
575) where he points to "...logic itself, mathematics, computer
programming languages.." All this is based on the same
intellect=intelligence fallacy. My smart crow obviously applied logic
when it found how to hoist food balls by the string, so IT is now an
"intellectual". Math is just a fancy way of saying calculation something
the proverbial Stone Agers, the Egyptians and Babylonians knew well.
Formal mathematics and geometry, the working out proofs and
theorems is intellect because it's about showing why the angles of a
triangle or the hypotenuse of a diito ...etc. must be so - objectively - at
all times and all places.
BTW.All intellectual patterns that Pirsig lists in LILA are all S/O to the
marrow
