The problem is Ron that regards just every INTELLIGENT 
deliberations to be  "intellectual patterns", that stone age mankind 
contemplating the making of flint artefacts were "intellectuals". This is 
the intellect=intelligence fallacy 

He will possibly point to Pirsig rejecting the SOL in Lila's Child (page 
575) where he points to "...logic itself, mathematics, computer 
programming languages.." All this is based on the same 
intellect=intelligence fallacy. My smart crow obviously applied logic 
when it found how to hoist food balls by the string, so IT is now an 
"intellectual". Math is just a fancy way of saying calculation something 
the proverbial Stone Agers, the Egyptians and Babylonians knew well.  
Formal mathematics and geometry, the working out proofs and 
theorems is intellect because it's about showing why the angles of a 
triangle or the hypotenuse of a diito ...etc. must be so - objectively - at 
all times and all places.

BTW.All intellectual patterns that Pirsig lists in LILA are all S/O to the 
marrow
