Lu "loves" this saying because I spout it at her every time she has to get
water (our well doesn't work) or carry wood (we don't have central heating,
just a woodstove)
I tell her, "hon, you're gettin' a two-fer".
She's not normally all that pleased but she does possess a certain resigned
cheerfulness to the situation that, if it isn't exactly enlightened, it's
close enough for me. Definitely a 360 zen woman.

I'm sure Lu would agree with you and use this admonition to get me off my
lazy butt and fix her well for her or bring the firewood onto the porch.
Fortunately, we hardly ever have to do both. In the summer we don't need a
fire and during the cold winter rains we catch enough off the roof that we
don't have to think about hauling water.
There's always a bright side. Which may not be exact enlightenment, but once
again, close enough for me.
John the easily pleased
