Hi folks
For once I stray from the MOQ. There is a German writer - Bernard
Kellermann - who wrote a book called "Das Meer" ('The Ocean' or
'The Sea' in English) about his stay on the French island Ouessant off
the Bretagne coast. This was in the early twentieth century, when the
population were fishermen and sailors and as this region is notorious
for its extreme ebb/flood difference (8-10 meters) and rough weather
they had many narrow esapes. I found this video clip of a storm
around there and as a "stormbird" and dabbler in seascape paintings I
was absolutely fascinated. Take a look at this address:

The waters around there are spotted with lighthouses, two on the
Ouessean itself - Creach and Stiff (both described by Kellermann, the
former the world's strongest lightwise ) - and some on rocks off the
island and. If these are manned they surely had a tough time during
this storm. BTW Kellermann has written another novel - "The Tunnel"
- about a project to connect Europe and the USA under the Atlantic,
this somehow reminded me of Ayn Rand.
