What you have described is what I call Media-ocracy. It concerns me deeply,
all these sound bites, all this distilling down of information. I started
doing research on television, and its' effects over 10 years ago, and at
that time there were about 11 entities controlling all the media.
We used to have laws in effect to prohibit one entity from owning
newspapers, tv stations and movie studios at the same time - anti-trust
laws.
Those laws were done away with (lobbied for by guess who?).
What happens now?

*Below is a look at the top six media conglomerates in the United States:*
1. *Time Warner*
2. *General Electric*
3. *Comcast*
4. *National Amusements (privately owned by Sumner Redstone)
*
5. *News Corporation (controlled by Rupert Murdoch)
*
6. *The Walt Disney Company*
*...nearly all the large media companies have intertwining relationships
with each other. Advertising Age magazine constructed an excellent Media
Family Tree<http://www.turnoffyourtv.com/networks/media2007/mediafamilytree06.pdf>(pdf
file) which shows how these companies cross-pollinate their profits.

**6 companies/entities controlling pretty much all the news and
entertainment you see, hear and read in America, and they're all in bed with
eachother.
Who do you trust for your news?
