Arlo can rave on about "social-historical space" and other pompous
abstractions, but Jon is right. "A tribe can change its values only person by
person and someone has to be first". (Lila, 9)

[Arlo]
Pompous? Oh, sorry, I forget how polysyllabic words are "elitist". I'd try to
speak the language of talk-radio for you, but I don't know how to grunt what I
said.

In any event, "someone has to be first" happens only when someone else in that
social-historical place, AND it happens only after the "someone" has
appropriated the collective consciousness, as Pirsig points out repeatedly
(20th century French culture exists, there Descartes thinks, therefore he is).
Until he appropriated the social culture of his surround, the only thing
Descartes could be the "first" to do would be biological behaviors.

But again, as is so typical of the sophomoric "understanding" you bring to the
table, you demonstrate that you don't understand a word of what I wrote (those
big elitist words?), make no effort to try to do so, and instead respond with
an idiotic rejoinder that serves nothing but your ridiculous little "war"
between "collectives and individuals".
