Hi Mary,
Save for the sexist fact that it was actually men talking about
women's "fashions" ... your comment glosses over the key point.
In any culture "what people like" (men or women) is related to what
that culture "expects of them".
Patterns of quality evolve.
Burkha's and Bikini's were just a metaphor for that point - cultural
expectations.
(Oh and yes, I agree with John when it comes to the natural benefits
of sunshine .... but that's another subject.)
