Mary to dmb and Bo:

Dmb, I can't believe you just said that!  You say, since Social patterns are
pre-intellectual, Bo must equate them with the pre-intellectual cutting edge
of reality, DQ, as though Bo doesn't have the sense to see the difference.
Well, why stop there?  Biological and Inorganic patterns are
"pre-intellectual" too, so I guess you could accuse Bo of equating all 3
with the larger concept of Dynamic Quality pre-intellectual awareness.  Come
on now.

Not right Mary, Bodvar has repeatedly equated arete with a static social pattern out of which SOM 'fought' itself free. Pirsig identifies arete with Quality, the dharma ( as Kitto explains the 'duty to oneself')... in MoQ terms:small self in relation to big self. As dmb points out this is a fundamental misunderstanding of context and events. The misunderstanding does not lie with dmb ( or mine for whatever that is worth) because I suspected this same thing long ago.

Only thing I can say is that Bodvar needs to explain himself better/ clearer...as I asked of him in my previous posts. And not just those areas he feels comfortable with i.e. confirming his SOL. These questions go back to the archives and a little more recently, back to Khoo's very good questions from the 'Oriental' perspective as not being represented in the SOL.

Bodvar himself is begging answers.
