Sorry Steve, my writing skills are poor, and my wording was confusing.
Buddhism is NOT something special becauses it uses logic and the scientific 
method just like the West.  It cannot be used as an exception to intellectual 
patterns as SOM based patterns.  Personally,  I do think it's specialness is 
the fact that it is looking at mind rather than matter.  But Buddhism is really 
too big for simple categorization.  There are Buddhist Lamas and 
philosophers and Buddhist laypeople and they represent a different 
combination of static patterns of value each.
