Hello Bodvar,

 Eben Emael (Flemish spelling)

Well, I regret to inform you that most of the so-called facts and myths are based upon the vivid imaginations of the
bold and brave Belgians. Facts: a lot of them are falsified and distorted myths. Perhaps an example of a falsified myth will help.

The records and archives talk about the attack projecting 'The newest German weapons utilised, secret weapons - unknown to
the Belgian army, unknown to the mainland'. In reality it was the propaganda machinery of the goverment, stating this as true.

The attack was at the beginning of WW2. The industrial machines of Germany were just emerging. The Germans didn't have these
weapons. V1, V2 where all in a later stage.

Fact vs. myths ... the mentality of the Germans is well known ever since WW1... The Germans where feared and are to be feared.
They delivered all the proof towards the European mainland in WW1.

The secret weapons...they trailered in some airplanes (few), only made from wood and canvas, stripped from engines.
Trailered in by total surprise by means of an airplane using an engine, flying much higher, dropping his deadly load.

Almost all the rest is myth, except for the mentality part. Think of (the movie) Shindler's List. This was happening all over Europe.

Eben-Emael, they rolled over it in a few hours, but for the Belgian people, the symbolic value of the fortress was enormous.

Almost nothing remains now, it's all looted. What remains has no historical value.
They use it as a museum, yes, but it is an empty nutshell, a desillusion.

This I'm very sure of, the looting came from Belgians, the plundering, the running away like scared children...

The history books are written by the war-aftermath governments, instructed by the allied forces.

Accept this: when rape occured, looting or bestialitys towards Belgians (committed by Germans soldiers)
they where executed within minutes after ... always. This is not in the books.

I have a very big intrest in WW2, WW1,Spanisch obduction, Dutch-Spanisch war, but there's little to say about Eben-Emael. Sorry for you.

If you are interested, I have a real story about the town "Rieme". You can view it on Google Earth, about 1 km from Zelzate.

I can see it from here (Zelzate). Zelzate and Rieme got hit by a very intense allied bombardment, performed by American and British airplanes.

This was for the second part of your post, I will not comment on the first part in the public domain of the list.

If you want a reply on that part, it wil be an omitted one , by mail and not relayed in the list. You have to approve this way before I do this. I am very strict in this.

Sincerely, Adrie.
