know in your heart you cover by mean-spiritness, what you do not know 
with your mind you attempt to cover with the authority of bare-assed quotes.

Yeah, I have long suspected the Pirsig pronounced Dave the fair haired son
on the basis of style rather than substance. But that devil-may-care,
flippant, romantic, luddite riff begins to ring hollow after a while. In the
end it is, what Case once described as, "a pastie on a mastectomy scar". As
