Arlo said to dmb:
... While its obvious why Marsha can't do more than repeat her "interpretation", this is the sort of confusion that leaves me wondering what's the point? I mean, "reification" is the conceptual error Pirsig's ideas were offered to correct! And I'd ask again, why is Marsha's idea that the intellectual level is reification BETTER than Pirsig's ideas where reification is an error within the intellectual level to be fixed? (I understand this question will never be answered, it will be met with three attacks, two evasions and then a repeat of "my interpretation is...")

dmb says:

Right, Marsha uses definitions the way bank robbers use ski masks. And if that doesn't work, she does a disappearing act wherein there is no self and everything means nothing because truth is relative and concepts create false boundaries. There are side-steps and evasions but Marsha takes it to a whole new level. Somehow, it over the rainbow and down the rabbit hole at the time. Fun house mirror is an apt analogy. You nailed it with that image, I think. Speaking of which...

Did you notice that she lived up to your Lucy and Charlie Brown analogy quite nicely. As usual, she taunted and begged for it and when I dished up the explanation and the ample evidence, whooosh. None of it matters. She doesn't give a shit.

In a few days she'll complain that I never explained anything. Or maybe later today. If I present the textual evidence, she'll ask for explanations. If I offer explanations she'll ask for evidence. And when she gets both she suddenly doesn't give a shit about either. So that's Lucy's last chance. The similarities between Charlie and me only go so far. At this point, I'd be a fool to trust her.
