Tim,
Well the overall patterning agent of differing political systems seems to me
to be consistent through the ages and of a particular kind. I spell it
"poly-ticks" as a label of differentiation from any particular system, and
signifying the polygamous approaches to control of the masses by the
blood-sucking parasites that comprise all governments and politicians.
But Jacques Ellul had an even more interesting label. He said that Politics
is Satan. Not that Politics is satanic, mind you, but the very thing
itself. The word "Satan" means "divider" and thus the essence of politics
is evil.

I agree completely. Even though there is much good ( I can hear Arlo's
squawks from here) it's also the playground of evil control freaks. I guess
you gotta take the good with the bad. Just don't conflate the two is all.
