Certainly not the latter.  Because then if he sees a dead leaf, he'll fear that he's dead & you will have to
stay up with him all night.
I would just teach him English the normal way.  Pirsig has shown that the MoQ can be expressed
in this way.  If he later thinks he needs to distinguish between leaves & organic patterns of value
(& I don't think he ever will), he can wait until he's older.
