I agree completely.
'cept for one little word change. Switch "assumption" to "conclusion" in
your formulation:
Ham:
That events occur without our knowledge is an intellectual assumption.

For is it not true, Ham, that intellectual reasoning can reach such a
conclusion, and even if the reasoning is faulty in some regard, the
conclusion might (or might not) be faulty and yet remain, A Conclusion.
An assumption is a different beast in argumentative lexicons.
Your statement implies there is no valid way to make this conclusion.
That's quite an assumption!
