Mary to Ian:

The thing Pirsig wanted us to see was that even though the Intellectual
Level is the highest Static level now, it doesn't have to be that way
forever. There is something better. It is acceptance of Quality (Morals
with a big M) as the Primary Reality rather than Subs and Obs. The
Intellectual Level can't deal with that and does not accept it, but that
doesn't make the Intellectual Level 'bad'. Can't be bad. It's the highest
Static Quality. It's just that there are better Static Qualities to be had
than that.

Andre:
And this is yet another indication and reflection of you accepting Bodvar's notion of the intellectual level only valuing(in MOQ terms!!),and only being capable of valuing, subject-object logic (which results in SOM). And you are making it the highest evolutionary level... completely! This is utter bull!

Through the root expansion of rationality, which the MOQ reflects Quality IS incorporated at the intellectual level as a static intellectual referent term: DQ.

Bodvar has never answered 3 very simple questions/statements:

1:(Ron): how does the SOL have greater explanatory power than the MOQ?
2: the MOQ is not out of SOM! This has never been addressed only whisked off by saying: 'Phaedrus was steeped in SOM' so it has to be that way. I totally disagree.
3: do you accept/understand Phaedrus' root expansion of rationality?

I think you get your knickers in a knot because you do not appreciate Mr. Pirsig's definition of the intellectual level as being... .

I would suggest that until you do you will continue to have severe difficulties with the MOQ and disagreements with other members on this list. Which is fine. But this is due to you restricting the intellectual level of attaining 'better Static Qualities to be had than that' by maintaining that it is only capable of one particular 'function'.

You are creating, maintaining and perpetuating a problem which does not exist within the MOQ.
