Hi , Dan.
The Flemish primitives, yes , i know them so well, strange that you are aware of them.
Strange, because i'm an art lover myself, and my father was a good painter/artist.
The whole family was living of the works he sold, he was an impressionist but a very dark one.
So i was raised between oil paint, exhibitions, canvas, acryl, conversations with other painters,
I have only two paintings still in my possesion.
Strange you could hit this art button i have, i do not think i ever mentioned in the topics here
that my father was an artist.
i'm a lover of the impressionists, Degas, CLAUDE MONET, Vincent Van Gogh, pointillisme,
colorimpressions, creating shape by diffusing shape, Monet his bridge......,Vincent's cypresses at Arles,
i visited Arles, remade the impression visually , with my eyes, i could really see it.......
My biggest favo' however is Valerius De Saedeleer, if you google/set for pictures, you will meet his work.
Love him all the way, i'v seen about all of his work that is still here in de Musea, and in the LOUVRE.
Regrettably the most important works of him are in private collections.
( The Louvre is only about 250 miles from here)(note)
My second favo's are a later on spin-off of the primitives, called "The latemse school", but i do not think
that there is a lot to find on the internet, and most of their work resides abroad , i think the Metropolitan
in NY has most of it, and private collectors here, of course.
I managed to recover footage of my father on one of his exibitions, back in '74, super 8 material, rasor sharp
technicolor, file of about 4 minutes, his work and his presentation is clear in the background.
the footage made my cry, i had a bad relation with my father the last 20 yrs of his life.
But suddenly after all this time, 36 yrs, i could see him back in all his glory, his better moments, young still
and sharp, and i'v remembered that i was on the footage in the background too, but i'm not visible.
The scenery of the footage projected my back to a moment in time, that my relation with my father was okay.
made my cry.
My father never was aware of the existence of the tape. He died lang ago, we did never match-up again before he died.
Greetz, Adrie
