I agree. But, when you say
"doctors examine biological patterns, and as such social patterns are
simply over their heads."
I have to say - only in simplistic cartoons. Real doctors have
"bedside manners". Medicine is not confined to biology, the social
level is hugely important to medicine too.
(Dr James Willis, a hero of mine, is a big Pirsig fan too.)
