Hi John,
I don't think cells are "contemplating" objects either -- "contemplating" 
meaning "thinking deeply about." But if they are aware, and Pirsig says they 
are, then  from an SOM perspective that they are aware of something, i.e., 
an object or objects. If nothing else, they have to be aware of their 
environment to survive. Putting this in an MOQ perspective, cells experience 
events but do not react to them socially or intellectually. They react to 
these experiences biologically according to the static patterns of cell 
behavior.
