Platt,
Thinking about thinking is just the beginning of a limitless trip to infinity
and beyond. In reading your post I started thinking about thinking about
thinking. And as I write this I'm thinking about the statement "thinking
about thinking about thinking." It just keeps expanding ad infinitum,
spilling out of the intellectual level into an abyss of vacuity.

Not a happy place to be.

Ron:
For someone who doesent like to think about thinking...I would guess
not.
or you can call it reflection and avoid the semantic psuedo
problem.
You really do not seem to be able to make the distinction in
meaning. This is Bodvars container logic paradox he keeps citing,
Moq in both explaining the world and being the world it explains
(what his SOL interpretation insists on) creates the violation of the
container logic, it produces self refferential paradoxial loops in meaning
something Pirsig wished to avoid especially sinced it flew in the face of
what he was meaning in the concept of DQ/SQ.
This is just one of the many misconceptions Bodvar has based his SOL
interpetattion on. So if your assertions on self refferential statements is
to be consistent then you should also have problems with Bo's SOL.

Platt
I have no problems because the MOQ is about values, not about self-
referential statements. Those stuck in SOL try to ignore the profound
incoherence of self-reference. (It's true there is no truth) Those who
understand the MOQ are set free from the downward spiral into the
abyss of vacuity.

Ron:
So you are saying Bo's SOL is in a downward spiral into the abyss of
vacuity?

Platt
Sure, if those caught in it never never find an escape route. Instead of
"abyss of vacuity" perhaps you prefer Pirsig's description: "People living
and dying in little cells of psychic solitary confinement, unable to talk to
one another, really, and unable to judge one another because
scientifically speaking it is impossible to do so."
