Pirsig explicitly identifies himself as an America pragmatist in general and a as Jamesean radical empiricist in particular. James and Pirsig are as alike as any two philosopher can be. Since there is so little academic literature on Pirsig and so much on James, the only practical way to locate Pirsig in the discourse is by way of James. The fact that you see so little merit in that says a lot more about you than me or James. I think it makes you look bad. Real bad. Four-letter word bad.
