crossed.  I'm not offended by your right to defend Pirsig 
(of what, since I've not attacked, I'm not sure) or of your 
defense.

I'm offended by you, silly!

Or, to put it another way, one might say that your 
sensibilities are offended by Rorty's or my philosophy.  
Likewise, one could describe me as having an offended 
sensibility, and no interest in pursuing the offense, and 
more interest in holding my nose.
