[Steve]
I sometimes think of biological patterns as waves in a sea of
inorganic patterns and social patterns as waves in a sea of biological
patterns and intellectual patterns as waves in a sea of social
patterns.
[Cap'n Frank]
In other words, a Venn diagram with a side of tartar sauce.
[Steve]
It's probably best not to get stuck on any one analogy.
[Frank]
You mean like Quality? Apparently not a bad stuck-ness.
Different analogies point us in different directions. ( A disembodied finger points to a phantom trash-bin. )
Venn-thinking
Ziggurat-thinking
Cone-thinking
This is not trivial.
Grab an ox femur and smash your neighbor over the head.
Steal his bananas and scamper up the nearest tree.
Live to see another day.
Grab an ivy league education and smash the shareholders over the head.
Steal their life savings and scamper up the nearest Swiss chalet.
That's living!
Intellectual patterns and biological patterns are the very same patterns.
Evolution -> freedom
freedom -> power
power -> moral choice
=>
Ziggurat thinking bad
