I'm sorry, other than the wingnuts of the right whose anti-academy rhetoric
extends at least far enough back to attempts to brand Pirsig a "radical
professor", who "hold academics in low esteem"? You'll forgive me if I don't
get all bungeed up about the "esteem" I am held in by people who sought to have
Pirsig fired from his position.

Actually, your comment should read...

"If academics want to know why they are held in low esteem by the teabaggers,
Pirsig provides the answer."

Yes he does. "That's just right-wing politics." 

They held Pirsig "in low esteem". And it almost cost our favorite "radical
professor" his job.
