Yes Dave, and , of course his other activities which put him at the forefront of what
may be termed a 'Buddhist modernization' movement. His involvement with the Mind and Life
Institute, the (bi)? annual meeting between the Dalai Lama and a wide array of scientists
in Dharamsala, India (his 'home-in-exile) plus his efforts at introducing studies of modern
science and Western philosophy into the monastic curriculum. As he states:
'If science proves facts that conflict with Buddhist understanding ...Buddhism must change
accordingly' (The Dalai Lama at M.I.T. p 14).
