So happy, happy b-day, to khoo and me.  I'm 51, entering the second half,
with a new game plan, so to speak.  It's easy to imagine football metaphors,
because I'm sitting on my mom's couch, listening to her droning voice on the
phone in her room, and watching the Ravens Wallop the Broncos on her big
tv.

Not a bad way to spend a birthday, actually.  It's been real good so far.
Last night, friends came over and we had a great time.  It was the first
time Lu entertained in her place, and the overall open-ness of the place
felt good, and welcoming.  Corner sofa and door out to the porch where I was
bbqing the salmon, on one side, comfy leather sofa and a cloth recliner with
a hammock chair beside was on the other.  At the front, Lu's computer and
big screen with the subwoofer and all her station set up, on which we
watched the latest video from my oldest, which made it seem very much like
she was there with us.  With booming subwoofer, no less.  Sarah, our middle
child and drama teacher, Josh of course, and our good friends Ted and
Joanie, and for the first time in a long, long time, Steve and Oxsana
Marquis.  I finally got to use moq terminology in making a point and having
somebody else understand what I meant.  I try and convince Steve to rejoin
MD, but he's so committed and involved with his stoic list, and being the
moderator and all... and how could I argue with Loyalty?

Anyway, it feels right and right on time.  10/10/10 and 51 seem like good
numeric reasons for assuming a fresh start, a new beginning.  A dynamic
reboot.  101010 in binary is 42, and I think it just might be the answer to
the big question of existence, life, the universe and everything.
