Dan:
Okay. So, my cats (subject) see a mouse (object) running through the
grass, catch it, and eat it. Are they using subjeect/object
metaphysics, or not?
Mark:
No, they are not. They are catching a mouse, there is no need for
subject/object metaphysics. When you are watching a movie, are you using
subject/object metaphysics? I suppose if you were a critic and formulating
a review you would be, but otherwise not. When you are experiencing a
beautiful sunset, or spelunking in some gorgeous grotto, are you using
subject/object metaphysics? If so, you are over thinking the experience.
Subject/object metaphysics is only used on occasion. When you are
formulating how to tell people of your experience then s/o metaphysics comes
into play. S/O metaphysics is one step removed from Quality. It has to do
with analyzing and formulating what is being experienced. It is not the
experience in itself. Most of life is an experience, even the s/o diversion
part of it. The rest is what happens in between, like the silence between
notes on a piano, or the white page of a book which full of words, or the
screen of a movie. We are such a screen.
