Right on, right on, right on. The ego of man knows no bounds, nor his ability 
to fool himself. Example: science claims the universe has no purpose, but 
science and scientists (not to mention all of life) exhibit purpose constantly.

I suppose some equate intelligence to that simple thing that we human's do
with our heads.  That's not intelligence, that is just mere human stupidity
and self-centeredness.  We are not even intelligent enough to know that.
 There is intelligence way, way beyond some simple conglomeration of nerve
cells that cannot even exist without help.  But, if we want to bring the
universe down to our level of intelligence, so be it, it certainly
diminishes its grandeur.  But it does make us the center of the universe,
and extremely moral to boot.
