Dan:

Yes, that's like asking the Japanese to appreciate the Quality of
atomic bombs. War is a low quality hell, and not just for civilians.
But I imagine there will be wars as long as there are human beings to
fight them.

I have no answers. I suggest we think of good things, instead... how
about a nice cup of tea?
