Thanks for the link, it was interesting. I work in the medical field and was at one time involved in biochemical brain research. While the mystical moment is hard to encapsulate, it does involve a change in awareness which is best identified with the brain. A while back, the sense of deja vu was also attributed to unusual (epileptic?) firing within the brain. We know so little about this organ, but can induce so called mystical moments with some chemicals that interact with the serotonin systems. So that is the modern medicine (materialistic) understanding.
There are, of course, other forms.of understanding which I believe Marsha is trying to point to. In my opinion there should be a balance between the materialistic and the so called spiritual. I believe that MoQ attempts such balance.
