That's hard to say.
But we should look at some more plausible scenarios.
First of all, let's deal with the current 1% vs. the 99%.
1% of 350 million people is 3.5 million, so we're a long way from "a few hundred people owning
pretty much everything".
Secondly, some of the top 1% couples have no children, some have children who don't in turn have
any children, some have lots of children, but say on average a rich couple has 2 children
who marry and also have two children in the lifetime of the original couple.  So the wealth of this original couple is now divided amongst 10 people (& amongst 22 a generation later.)
Thirdly, what do the rich do when they own pretty much everything?  Bill Gates isn't going to
do very well when only a few hundred of his friends can afford a computer.
Fourthly, people often assume the top 1% (or .01%) is static.  Not so.  There are frequent stories
about those who have made & lost a fortune; about sports or entertainers who once made millions
of dollars a year, now selling their Super Bowls rings on eBay.
Fifthly, if I'm renting, do I care if my landlord owns just 1 rental unit or 50?  Maybe if she
owns 50, she doesn't have to make as much a profit on each one, so I get lower rent.
In short, I don't see all this as a major problem.
