I received a Master's degree in Library Science, not because I'm mousy and like the smell of moldy books, but because I covet knowledge; 'research' is my middle name.  I make no claim to original opinion, so I won't puff up my posts with paraphrased regurgitation.  If I find a paper or book or quote that speaks clearly to a topic, "cognative experience" and "immediate experience"  (http://www.gampoabbey.org/documents/Buddhist-Steps.pdf), for instance, I will offer it up for your consideration.  Certainly, you may ignore or reject it.  That's not my concern, for I take the Diamond Sutra quite seriously:

   All conditioned dharmas 
   Are like dreams, illusions, bubbles, shadows, 
   Like dew drops and a lightning flash. 
   Contemplate them thus.
