David to Marsha:
People write you off as a narcissistic Mystic. I had hoped you would prove them otherwise. But I guess this is the end of our discussion..
Andre:
Since I am one of those 'people' I'll respond, David by making something very clear. Marsha IS coming across to me as 'narcissistic' and very ego-centric but certainly NOT as a 'Mystic'! Mystics are very clear about the difference (for example) between DQ and sq. Certainly Zen is very clear on this as well. A short quote from D.T.Suzuki:
" As in everything else, but most particularly in Zen, all its outward manifestations or demonstrations [sq patterns] must never be regarded as final. They just indicate the way where to look for the facts. Therefore these indicators are important,we cannot do well without them".(Essays in Zen Buddhism, p 21)
Marsha, in mixing up these DQ/sq distinctions is just incredibly confused about lots of things. As Suzuki argues '...we cannot do well without them'. That is why Marsha appears not to be doing very well here...no difference for her.
You're not the first one to be cheesed off (if I can put it this way) with her responses.
She is here to score points, to be elusive, to have some sort of mistical (!) aura around her. It feeds the self aggrandizement, solidifies her ego. And now, all of a sudden she claims that she has been using the term 'relative' AS 'relational' all along. Duh!
