Ian,

I've been working on solving the problem of induction with MOQ, or if 
you'd prefer, solving the problem of induction in the context of the 
MOQ. I find the concept of DQ highly relevant in the solution of that 
problem. So I'd say MOQ and that problem are related. But on the other 
hand, sequence prediction is relevant to both the problem of induction 
and Hofstadter. I've been reading the book on fluid analogies. You might 
want to check this out. It attempts to solve the problem of induction 
with sequence prediction - ie. something also Hofstadter has done.
