Pirsig had a breakdown (largely down to the extreme version of Western culture in which he was bought up in...)  Wrote ZMM.  Became world famous and a multi-millionaire.  Bought a boat and sailed the world.  Wrote a sequel on an advance of a million dollars...  

Yes Mark, it kind of makes me less inclined being careful - strangely enough.  But that's just me.  Maybe It's my "eccentric" English upbringing!
