It was missed because it is wrong. The MOQ isn't about belief or faith. It says the world begins with experience. Direct experience.

[Arlo]
It does, but that does not make Peirce, or Ron, wrong. For Peirce (and I gather James, although DMB may want to correct me if I am wrong), belief is what enables action outside the immediate moment of experience.

(Ron)
What was missed, was this line:
"A different new method of settling opinions must be adopted, that shall not only produce an impulse to believe, but shall also decide what proposition it is which is to be believed. Let the action of natural preferences be unimpeded, then, and under their influence let men, conversing together and regarding matters in different lights, gradually develop beliefs in harmony with natural causes."-Pierce
Thanks again for that link
It speaks firstly to the idea that belief  is that on which one is prepared to act, and secondly aligning beliefs with natural causes which
points to the immediate in experience. The original question about "pure experience" was put in such a tone as to doubt ones ability
to truly validate truth statements because so much of how we understand experience is culturally and historically derived, even
"direct experience" is
illusional in a fashion since the process of cognition is a process of simplification. Nietzche wrote:
"The Philosopher of tragic insight (Erkenntnis). He  restrains the uncontrolled drive toward knowledge, but not through
a new metaphysic. He does not set up a new faith. He feels the vanishing of the metaphysical ground as a tragic event
and cannot find a satisfying compensation for it in the motley spiralling of the sciences...one must willingly accept even
illusion...therein lies the tragedy."

It is illusion we must accept yet some illusions are better than others and we act for the sake of them.

Thanks Arlo, Dan's drinkin Hater-aid
