IMHO this isn't right.  Why can't I set up a sensor that the rising sun sets off, so that I know the sun is rising, without directly experiencing the rising sun.
Worse yet, someone can set up conditions so that my direct experience is indistinguishable to me from my direct experience of the sun,
so that I believe I'm directly experiencing the sun when I'm not.
