Putting one's faith in authority makes one a sheep and is not the same as taking a leap of faith.
I take a leap of faith ( for, into, towards ) my self.
And now look at me! I used to be poor boy! Now I own big boat and make love to many white womens!
But seriously:
Seize not surrender. Quite gumptious golly gee wiz when you really think about it!
Pirsig spoke of this in reference to quitting school, finding one's true interest, and beginning anew, recharged. Something like that. You know, the gumption chapter.
We are turtles all the way up.

p.s. As a leap of faith, faith in authority doesn't ultimately appeal to me; that would be even a well respected authority.

The point was that while a product of experience, abstractions & generalizations (concepts) may stray too far from that experience to be meaningful, even intellectually meaningful. The MoQ is empirical, yes?
