For ethics to be true ethics, one must choose between good and evil (for example). Therefore for everything to be imbued with morality requires the freedom of choice. By definition that is free will. If morality is determined, then it cannot be called morality, IMO.

I think this is potentially a can of worms to which loads of posts have been devoted in the past. Equating 'freedom of choice' with 'free will' is a wrong path to follow. I was hoping you could give me a clear quote from LILA that Pirsig indeed argues that 'everything has free will, everything'. Alas.
