Andre,
My accusation:
> . You so boring you can't even entertain an idea.

Your response:

> Hi John , I appreciate the sentiments but when there is plenty of reason to whine, complain and criticize I will.
> The boredom doesn't lie in the entertainment of ideas.
John:
No, the boredom lies in the refusal to entertain ideas. In the certainty that you've got it all figured out and anyone who offers any new ideas must automatically be wrong, and sinful and evil and deviating from the proper way - the words in YOUR head. Pirsig said a lot, but he never claimed to be any sort of final word on the matter. So memorizing those books is not going to help. You come across exactly like the chairman in ZAMM- We are not here to hear what Marsha thinks, we are here to study what Pirsig thinks!
Recognize that passage? You honestly think RMP put it in there for you to emulate? I disagree. That kind of dogmatic thinking is the enemy of Quality.
> They lie in the confrontation with, and constant exposure to old fashioned, worn out wanky trying-to-up Pirsig's MoQ ideas. That's when I get cranky because they are all ( to put in in Anthony's words and I hope he doesn't mind: bullshit!) I have said it before. I can be very blunt and terse and abusive and stuff but somebody has to say it.
John: Oh really? Do they? What makes you so sure? And how did it happen that this "important" task, fall to you? Nominating commitee? Little voice whispering in your ear? I'm honestly curious, how does one land the gig of mean-ass intelkectual critic?
> Well, if that falls to me then so be it. I make no apologies. Just tell me and pull me up on going against MoQ stuff and I'll accede. But until then...well I'll be whining and criticising and complaining whilst doing my best to present the MoQ perspective.
The "MoQ perspective" is a lot bigger than what you've got all mapped out in your brain. I suggest you entertain the idea of humility once in a while.
Just a thought.
J
